LOOK FAMOUS, BE LEGENDARY

EZMARALDA GORDON

JULY 2019

My love affair with style started when I was a little girl.  Taking my little red wagon, I walked through the fields, picking up pieces of granite while chatting with the sky, “Ah, this is so beautiful”.  Returning home I would stockpile the granite in paper grocery bags in our garage. I still have the same magical feeling about granite, and, imagine, I’ve been able to expand it.I have always been into fashion. As a teenager Yves St Laurent was my favorite designer. I made many outfits using Vogue patterns, and I created my own. I dressed to get attention, and I got it.

What is style without jewelry? My view is that jewelry is the icing on the cake. Jewelry makes me feel opulent, like an Empress, giving me recognition and respect. Self indulgence is an opportunity for personal discovery and a means to reveal oneself. A collection is a focal point. My first focal point was budget and versatility. The challenge being that I needed to stretch the money while making a statement. I started with various lengths of pearls so that I would be able to wear the same necklace in different ways, a million if I could. I have ended up with 17”, 34”, 38” and 76” as my stable of measurements, as these lengths are the most versatile. It has taken me over 40 years to refine it into my brand ENDLESS DIVERSITY™, spanning through the main body of my collections.

Christian Dior, in the long run has become my favorite designer. His designs are timeless. His refinement of style flows like a line drawing. His color sense is like a Rothko or a Monet. His textures are sophisticated, worldly and inspiring. There isn’t anything that he made that would not thrill me to wear. My criteria for a collection is to make sure it never ages and is always wearable. If you are currently in London go to the V&A. The Christian Dior Exhibit closes July 14th.

In a personal collection each person has to focus on themselves to figure out what style works for them. However, I suggest that you always start with strand of pearls, as it can take you everywhere; out to lunch, to a wedding, dinner with the queen, or the grocery store. When purchasing your first necklace think about how many different ways you can wear it. You want to attain Versatility. Start with a strand of pearls. White, cream, gray or black; choosing the color that looks best on your skin tone and works with your clothing.

Throughout the course of this blog I would like to introduce you to the beginning concepts of your personal collection.  I will develop your look piece by piece, starting with the most necessary and amplifying it.  In my next blog I will discuss the glamour that a pair of earrings brings to your look.
